Plans have now been submitted for house styles never before seen in Kirkintilloch.
They including design features such as luxurious Porcelanosa kitchens and bathrooms, generous open plan living space with bi-fold glazed external doors and balconies with glass balustrades and contemporary chic aluminium handrails.
The planned exteriors are equally luxurious, with pre-weathered zinc and copper cladding on dormers and feature bay windows in some properties.
The imaginative conversion of the original school building, vacated earlier this year, involves preservation and upgrade of the natural stone and slate roof structure with timber eaves. While this will appeal to traditionalists, the conversion will include energy efficiency and luxury interiors fully designed for contemporary living.
The whole development is proposed within the existing footprint of the former St Agatha’s Primary School, where mature trees and landscaping will be maintained. Plans also allow for three, two bedroom Affordable Homes within the site.

Plans have been discussed locally on how to work best with the local community to educate local children on the need to respect sites before and during construction.
Gartconner Primary pupils will be invited to create names for the new house types, if the Planning Application is successful.
Kirkintilloch High School has also agreed to take part in a work experience programme and potential history projects
The proposed homes will fall in the catchment area of Gartconner and Holy Trinity Primary Schools and nearby Kirkintilloch and St Ninian’s High Schools.
If the Planning Application is successful, Panacea Property hopes to move as quickly as possible onto the construction phase.
